Micklebring Walk - January 30th

Posted 30/1/2016

A thoroughly entertaining days walking today, with a 7.52 miles walk around the Micklebring and Conisbrough area.

Starting from The Plough pub we walked along Clifton Hill passing the radio masts and trig point towards Conisbrough, during our  descent to Conisbrough, Amanda our walk leader had an unexpected fall during which she narrowly avoided missing a passing car.

Unbroken, Amanda stood up and continued and we walked on, taking our lunch in the grounds of Conisbrough Castle, where we saw a family of castle visitors who looked very familiar, Nick, Emma, Rhys and Oliver Powell.

After lunch we walked out of Conisbrough towards Hilltop and joined a bridleway which led us across Conisbrough Park virtually all the way back to Micklebring.

A great days walking ended just before the snow arrived, upon finishing we retired to Sir Jack's at nearby Bramley for a well deserved drink and an hour of reflection on a great day, and of course lots of laughter.

Twenty three people walked today, including new faces, Holly & Jade Hardman and Jack Harper. Welcome to you all. Also well done to Jeanette Castelbranco who pushed her son Joseph around the full route in a pushchair in muddy conditions.

Finally congratulations to Emily Kirk and Alex Bennett who achieved 100 miles walked since July 1st today.
