Darfield Circular Family Walk - December 13th

Posted 13/12/2015

This short, 3-mile route took in some familiar paths from previous walks and some new territory for us too.  We started from Middlewood Hall, descending through fields to the swollen river, following this to emerge near Darfield Bridge.  Ascending to Fitzwilliam Road, we took a muddy path, crossing the A6195 to emerge in Little Houghton.  Passing the former pit site we returned on Ings Road and an old bridleway to Darfield.

The busy time of year meant our group mostly had other commitments for the afternoon and broke up without a refreshment stop afterwards.  Nevertheless, an enjoyable walk was had by all, ably led by debutante walk leader Emma Powell

We welcomed a new face in Lisa Roper and two regular junior walkers had cousins in attendance today, so it was a pleasure to also welcome Alex's cousin Sean and Libby's cousin Ruby to today's event. Overall, ten adults and seven children braved the cold for this one.
