Holmfirth Walk - October 24th 2015

Posted 26/10/2015

Despite the wet weather on Saturday we still had a good turnout with 14 attendees (and a little dog called Sam).  Holmfirth lived up to its reputation as being quite hilly ( a bit of an understatement I know) and the walk commenced with a very steep climb on to the tops where the views over the infamous village and surrounding areas certainly made it worthwhile.

Unfortunately we didn’t spot any of the Last of the Summer Wine characters and even our very own Compo (aka Colin) was absent as he was poorly.  Nevertheless it was a very energetic and varied walk that went over hills, through woods and passed through some little picturesque villages.

After a little sprint to the finish line, or more like a quick stroll for some of us who didn’t put enough money in the parking meter, we all enjoyed a warm drink and well deserved piece of cake.

A very warm welcome to a new walker Andrea Turner who joined us on this walk and was introduced to some of the gang but hopefully that won’t put her off and she will still join us again.
