Goodmanham Walk - September 24th

Posted 24/9/2017

Our group set off from Goodmanham taking the Yorkshire Wolds Way trail past Pond Wood and the Deer Park to Londesborough. Here we paused by the picturesque church for a drinks break before leaving via Intake Lane at the south west of the village. We then rejoined the Yorkshire Wolds Way to follow its Market Weighton spur past Towthorpe Grange and into the town. After making excellent time it was along this last stretch that we took our lunch.

We left Market Weighton by the Hudson Way which follows the course of a former railway line to Beverley, leaving the Hudson Way by Rifle Butts Quarry and following a tarmac road for 3/4 mile back to Goodmanham. Here our group first stopped for refreshments at the Fiddle Drill tea rooms before completing the 8.7 mile walk with a traditional post walk pint at the Goodmanham Arms.

Yet another walk in the scenic area of the Yorkshire Wolds on a lovely autumn day.

A big hello and welcome goes out to Linda Pearse, our Canadian visitor today, nice to meet you.

Finally well done to Tricia MacDuff who clocked up 500 miles with DVWG today, whilst Emily Kirk and Rhys Powell clocked up 750 and 400 respectively. Well done to you all.
