Saltaire to Ilkley Walk - June 17th

Posted 17/6/2017

Sometimes everything comes together to create the perfect walk for DVWG and today was one of those days.

Today's walk has been a classic for the 13 walkers who took part in today's blistering temperatures.

After travelling to Saltaire by train and a ritual pre walk cuppa, (or beer for some), our walk commenced by crossing the River Aire to Baildon and walking up Shipley Glen to Eldwick.

After a pub/lunch stop we commenced a rather scenic walk across Bingley Moor in hot temperatures reaching the Twelve Apostles Stone Circle before starting to descend into Ilkley with some wonderful views of the Yorkshire Dales to see.

We reached Ilkley after an extended circuit of Ilkley Crags to see the Cow & Calf Rocks, before finishing off our walk in Ilkley with a thoroughly deserved beer before our train journey home.

Well done to the thirteen people who walked with DVWG on this 9.62 miles classic today, especially David Kirk and Diana Walker who both chalked up 300 miles season to date today.

A big welcome also goes to Wendy Bremner too who walked with us for the first time today.
