Flamborough Coastal Walk - June 10th

Posted 10/6/2017

So after travelling to Flamborough this morning in heavy rain, we were not optimistic about the walk at all, but by the time we arrived the rain miraculously cleared. We enjoyed a great walk around the coastal headland of this beautiful part of the Yorkshire Coast.

Starting from South Landing walking along the coast where we reached the lighthouse, where we had a tea & cake stop. Once more on the headland we walked alongside the Flamborough Golf Club and headed for North Land...ing. Along this stretch the beach coves are simply stunning with lots to see. Upon reaching North Landing we stopped for a well deserved beer at The Caravel, overlooking the beach.

At this point we decided that as it was still early afternoon we would extend the walk along the headland slightly to walk to the end of Thornwick Bay, the most beautiful of the beach coves and to minimise the amount of road walking necessary as we crossed field paths to return to the village.

A short stretch of road walking took us back to South Landing and the end of our walk.

After the walk most of us had booked a meal at the nearby Rose & Crown, which was delicious. A late finish to this enjoyable days ensued for our party.

Well done to the seventeen people who completed this 9.45 miles walk, which was simply a classic. It's true to say that DVWG always enjoy our coastal walks.

A special well done to Liz Davis who chalked up 300 miles season to date today.

We hope to see as many of you as possible for DVWGs 300th walk tomorrow !
