Stainborough Park Family Walk

Posted 26/7/2015

A fantastic turnout of 24 made it for this lovely stroll round the Stainborough and Hood Green districts, returning through the Country Park past the ornate gardens and grand facade of Wentworth Castle.

The route was shortened slightly to 4.3 miles, due to the onset of inclement weather an hour or so in. However, whilst the rain dampened our clothes, our spirits proved more resilient, especially the seven children in attendance who all did really well.

Having parked at the Strafford Arms, we settled down for refreshments there afterwards. Several of our party stayed on and dined there as the Sunday Lunch looked divine. The remainder enjoyed liquid refreshment and the warm welcome afforded in this pleasantly-appointed village pub.

Our party was bolstered by a number of new faces today - Val Noon, Kylie Rumney and her smashing young lads, Ellis and Finn. Many thanks to all who attended - we hope you enjoyed your afternoon out. Once again, well done to all who completed this one, especially young Gracie Bradley who was out of her dad's baby carrier and self-propelled for a decent section of this walk.
