The Edges Walk - January 28th

Posted 28/1/2017

Today’s 8.3 mile walk for our party of nine started from the Grouse Inn on the edge of the Longshaw Estate just as the morning’s rain eased giving a couple of hours of relatively clear walking towards Hurkling Stone and along White Edge before the obligatory group photo at White Edge trig point.

We then crossed the Curbar road, had a brief lunch break, and continued past Wellington’s Monument and Eagle Stone as we turned back northwards. A brief diversion to Curbar Gap car park for coffee and cake at Jolly’s Catering van was followed by a change in the weather as a few light rain showers occupied the rest of the afternoon’s walk along Curbar Edge and Froggatt Edge and back to the Grouse Inn for a well earned pint.

A great walk expertly led by Roy Smith. Finally well done to Julie Foster who notched up 100 miles season to date too.
