Castleton Family Walk

Posted 21/11/2016

Our family walk on Saturday was one of DVWG's tougher offerings with a quite tough & muddy ascent from the village up Cow Low to Rowter Farm. By the time we reached this point we had seen an abundance of snow and had taken part in our first snowball fight of the season.

Following a very brief lunch break our walk continued to the Limestone Way, which we used to descend back to Castleton via a quite treacherous walk down Cave Dale, which was like a running river.

Following the completion of this four miler, our party sampled some of the festive delights of this beautiful village from the local hostelries, Christmas tree festival, Christmas market, even street dancing from some local minstrel Morris Dancers.

As dusk fell we were also treated to the Christmas lights switch on and the parade through the village by Father Christmas himself.

Well done and thanks to everyone who completed this walk.
